Machholz steps down as athletic director

After three weeks of suspension due to an incident at a home soccer game, Mike Machholz has announced his resignation as Missouri Valley College’s athletic director.


Machholz released a letter written to the coaches of MVC thanking them for their dedication to the athletic department and explaining his resignation. In the letter, he explained the reason he has been on suspension.

Shooting leaves Valley student in hospital

A shooting at the Living Room Bar early Sunday left multiple people injured and one Valley student in the hospital. 


According to a press release from the Marshall Police Department, the incident took place around 1:20 a.m. Sunday as patrons were leaving the establishment at closing time. The release states that four people sought medical treatment locally, with one later being transferred to the University of Missouri Hospital.

Missouri Valley College signs articulation agreement with State Fair Community College

With the signing of a new 2 + 2 articulation agreement, students from State Fair Community College will now be able to attend Missouri Valley College without fear of losing credits.

Sappington leaves Missouri Valley College

Long-time MVC staff member Eric Sappington has left after 19 years with the college. Sappington was MVC’s Vice President of Advancement, but will now serve as the Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Central Missouri.

MVC’s Thor’s Pantry Seeks Grant to Expand Student Resources

Missouri Valley College’s Thor’s Pantry has applied for a corporate grant from Swipe Out Hunger, an organization dedicated to addressing food insecurity on college campuses. If awarded, the grant will provide MVC students with essential resources, including food, winter coats, and bedding.

Need for blood critical in Missouri

The Red Cross has issued a critical need for blood supply and platelets. Donations will help ensure patient care and raise the blood supply for the upcoming seasons. 


Campus Nurse Casey Vogelsmeier emphasized the importance of blood donation and how it is greatly needed.

Anatomage table debuts in Collins Science Center

The Collins Science Center debuted its brand new Anatomage Table on Sept. 3. This table will allow students to get hands-on experience with anatomy, without the extra hassle of cadaver organisms.
